Ok so I have been trying to convince myself to go down into our cool basement to paint…well it isn’t working. If it was 28 or 32 C out I would be very happy to hide down there but it has been just a lovely 20 or 22 C which is perrrrfect! So for the next while I will be posting drawings….so I can hang around outside and enjoy our brief summer. And isn’t the dragonfly the ultimate symbol of summer.
Any suggestions on what I could draw? 😉 Suggestions would be welcomed.
Also great news. The Yellowknife Watercolour Society got news today that the NWT Arts Council will be giving us a grant to bring up a teacher from the other side of Canada. So Frans Aeyelts will be winging his way here in November to teach a one day class for students in a community that is one hour away from here, and 3 day workshop for folks in Yellowknife. He sent a great drawing that I will share once the executive has a chance to confirm it.
Check out Frans’ work. http://www.fransaeyelts.com
WE are just days away from the end of the month. Have you got your name in for the end of the month draw?
See you on Monday. Have a great weekend!!!! May the sun be shining where you are.
Totally agree! Dragonfly = summer! When I see a dragonfly i immediately think of sun, blue skies and how they are dancing over the water of a lake. (Preferably one with waterlilies) Childhood memories 🙂

THey are amazing critters aren’t they. I got more photos of waterlilies the other day…with cool shadows.

Love the dragonfly! We have tons of them here. They sun themselves on our granite steps than run up the side of our house. Have you ever considered painting them? i think with your watercolour skills you would do an awesome job. Other things you might try would be butterflies or moths, bees or even birds. I love anything from nature done in water colours! Enjoy your summer outdoor time! It has finally cooled off here too so we are now enjoying the sunny days without all the humidity & there is even a breeze to boot!

I haven’t really gotten to the point of thinking of painting them. I do have a few images I can work from…so maybe this winter! Glad to hear it cooled off for you a bit Candee. Enjoy the more reasonable temps!!!!

Dragonflies are synonymous with summer:) We get a few here and when I see them I stop and stare.

We have damsel flies that are teeny tiny, and big dragonflies too. I love sitting in my backyard and watching them get those annoying bugs! 😉 Somehow that seems rather satisfying.
