“I’ve got your back”, 20x20cm, Acrylic
I love these Russian dolls that are actually from Yamalia or Magadan or Chukotka, I can’t really remember which one. I received them during a set of Arctic Winter Games in the 1990’s at some point. I have had these dolls for a long time. They are fun and i have had them on display since then.
Day 24 is done! On to day 25…I am off to figure out the next set up! 😉
See you soon…6 paintings left.
I remember from when I was little that someone (can’t remember who) had a set of Russian dolls, and how I loved to play with them, and how fantastic it was with the smallest one. 🙂

They are fun aren’t they. I don’t remember seeing them as a child…but then you live a lot closer to Russia than I do! 😉

Thanks Candee. It was very nice to receive them as a gift from the Russian Contingent for the Arctic Winter Games.

I’m having a lot more fun than the last 30 days in January. I feel a little more confident, less intimidated… Today I’m having fun on a large painting of Lake Michigan with a palette knife. Sometimes I think I get too stressed and I overwork things. This 30 days is great to get me to loosen up some.
I noticed the stripes in the background of your painting. Great job! I tried doing some stripes on a dress I was painting and quit…they were black and red and white and it just made a mess. I’ll have to try again sometime when I have more time. 🙂

That is great to hear Karin. I am glad you are feeling more confident. So then what Leslie wanted some artists to accomplish has worked! 🙂 I saw that painting and wondered if it was done with a palette knife. Really well done. Working in acrylic is great because it dries fast so doing stripes is quite easy. I can imagine that with oil it would not be so easy to do.
